Trustee Recruitment

Living Options Devon is an expanding dynamic user-led charity based in Exeter, which exists to ensure people with physical and/or sensory disabilties and Deaf people with sign language can make an active and equal contribution in society.

We wish to recruit three new members, who have a personal experience of disability or are a member of the Deaf community, to join our nine-strong governing body, the Board of Trustees.

We need people who can help Living Options towards achieving its mission and ensure the organisation is effectively managed.  You would need to be able to make a commitment to Living Options, devote the necessary time, have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to express your views.  Ideally the new Trustees will also have skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Networking and relationship-building with senior policymakers at regional and national level with particular emphasis on disability;
  • Experience of charity regulation at a national strategic level;
  • Experience of marketing and PR;
  • Experience of commercial tenders and contract negotiation; or
  • Experience of legal and/or finance.

We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse Board of Trustees and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We will pay Trustees' expenses and provide a full induction into the work of Living Options.  You will be expected to contribute approximately three days of your time each quarter.

An enhanced CRB check will be required for this post.

Please download an application pack here, or contact Rosie Barron on info@livingoptions.org or telephone 01392 459222.  For an informal discussion about the role, please ask to speak to Lin Walkerdine.

Closing date: Friday 26th March 2010
