Living Options Devon celebrates after receiving National Lottery funding
Living Options Devon is celebrating today after being awarded £431,654 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.
Living Options Devon will use the funding to run the Devon Wellbeing Together project which will be working to improve the accessibility and inclusivity of wellbeing services for disabled and Deaf people whilst also providing additional volunteering opportunities across Devon.
This new National Lottery funding will allow Living Options Devon support over 2,300 disabled and Deaf people across Devon. This will be through peer support to disabled and Deaf people, delivering disability and Deaf awareness training to wellbeing services, offering access audits to existing wellbeing services, and creating volunteering opportunities for disabled and Deaf people. Devon Wellbeing Together is a four-year project that will begin in the New Year. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Living Options Devon.
National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.
Diana Crump, Living Options Devon CEO said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can work with existing wellbeing providers to ensure that they are accessible and inclusive for disabled and Deaf people. We will also be providing disabled and Deaf people with accessible information and advice which will empower them to make informed choices. We believe that disabled and Deaf people should have the same life chances and opportunities as everyone else, including access to wellbeing services. This will make a big difference to people’s lives.”
During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK. To find out more about the National Lottery Community Fund visit www.TNLCommunityFund.org.uk.
