Libraries Unlimited are offering an exciting opportunity for disabled, Deaf and non-disabled artists, thinkers, technologists, and arts and tech lovers to a 2 day hackathon looking at how we can make our libraries the most accessible space possible using arts and technologies.
- Day 1 – 16th February 2019
- Day 2 – 23rd February 2019
Time: 11:00 – 15:00
Where: Rougemont Room, Exeter Library (wheelchair accessible)
Lunch and BSL interpretation will be provided.
Over 2 days we will discuss, dream and then scheme, and at the end of it we will provide funding for the strongest ideas to be developed into prototypes. We aim to commission at least one of these prototypes during 2019-2020 to be developed and installed in at least one of our Devon Libraries.
Our dream is evocative, innovative, useable art in our libraries to make them a more useful space for a wide range of users.
To register for a place please follow link below to Eventbrite or call Exeter Library on 01392 407027. A more detailed schedule of the day will be available in due course to all attendees. Personal assistants are of course welcome - we ask that they also book a ticket, to assist with our planning.
If you would like to discuss access/dietary requirements further please contact 01392 407027. There are a small number of free blue badge holder parking spaces outside Exeter Library. We will reimburse public transport and mileage costs for attendees.
Please note that spaces are strictly limited.
Living Options Devon is a well respected user-led organisation which works to ensure that people with disabilities and Deaf people can live the life they choose. Set up in 1990 LOD is a registered charity (Charity N0. 1102489) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 4925281). Based in Exeter and Barnstaple, our charitable aims mean we we can offer services across the South West and share good practice throughout the UK. Being led and run by people with disabilities and Deaf people ensures LOD has first hand knowledge and understanding of the issues facing service users and so is very well placed to increase the influence and voice of Deaf and disabled people. We do this by providing education, training and services which enable people to live the lives they choose.
