Living Options Devon is delighted to have been asked to be included in the BBC's make a difference campaign, which shares details of help and support from organisations and individuals in the local area, who are working hard to make things easier for people.
The charities support and advice services will feature every Tuesday afternoon at about 1.30pm for the next four weeks. Last week Anne from our Time to Talk project explained how the project was supporting those who are Deaf (BSL users) or people with a long term health condition or disability through the provision of a free, confidential listening and advice service. In the interview Anne said
"I think alot of people are struggling to cope with being alone at the moment with the lockdown situation, we can support them either through listening and providing advice or through giving information. For the Deaf community they are struggling to get hold of the information they need, we can provide the information they need in BSL. We also provide our chat and share groups or one to one support and information, we can also have a webchat / face to face conversation which really helps some people".
Next week Neil from our Countryside Mobility scheme will be chatting to BBC Radio Devon, talking about his Wednesday Wanders and podcast 'Outside In'. Our Deaf Get Active team will also be featuring over the coming weeks, along with Victim Support Services and our Disability Champion, Helen.

Living Options Devon is a well respected user-led organisation which works to ensure that people with disabilities and Deaf people can live the life they choose. Set up in 1990 LOD is a registered charity (Charity N0. 1102489) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 4925281). Based in Exeter and Barnstaple, our charitable aims mean we we can offer services across the South West and share good practice throughout the UK. Being led and run by people with disabilities and Deaf people ensures LOD has first hand knowledge and understanding of the issues facing service users and so is very well placed to increase the influence and voice of Deaf and disabled people. We do this by providing education, training and services which enable people to live the lives they choose.
