As an independent charity and Disabled People’s User Led Organisation (DPULO) we believe that disabled and Deaf people should have the same opportunities as others in employment. In 2013, Living Options Devon undertook a project called ‘The Portfolio of Peer Support project’. Supported by the Government Office for Disability Issues: Strengthening DPULOs Programme, the project aimed to increase awareness of the support available to disabled and Deaf people in the workplace through the Access to Work scheme. LOD provided one-to-one peer support to disabled and Deaf people, raised awareness of the Access to Work scheme and provided employment events and information sessions.
The project has now ended but as a legacy to the project we produced the Portfolio of Peer Support Guide (PoPS Guide). This guide provides useful information to both disabled and Deaf people and employers and is available to download here. If would like the guide in an alternative format please contact us.

Please Note: The Access to Work scheme rules and support have changed considerably since the portfolio was produced, latest up-to-date Access to work information can be found at www.gov.uk
Living Options Devon is a well respected user-led organisation which works to ensure that people with disabilities and Deaf people can live the life they choose. Set up in 1990 LOD is a registered charity (Charity N0. 1102489) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 4925281). Based in Exeter and Barnstaple, our charitable aims mean we we can offer services across the South West and share good practice throughout the UK. Being led and run by people with disabilities and Deaf people ensures LOD has first hand knowledge and understanding of the issues facing service users and so is very well placed to increase the influence and voice of Deaf and disabled people. We do this by providing education, training and services which enable people to live the lives they choose.
